About

Why Coffee Philosophy? Because

1. I firmly believe that coffee makes you a better person. Coffee shops are some of the most amazing places on earth- anyone can come in to a calm, uplifting atmosphere and sit down to do work, or chat, or just hang out.

2. The art of philosophy is one that’s almost lost in our time. In my experience, no one has ever regretted learning more about philosophy. It is, after all, at its core just the engaging of proper thought. Give it the chance and philosophy will enrich your life and deepen your own personal experiences.

So combine the two and what do you get? Engaging conversations about truly meaningful topics that will leave us all better for simply participating. Or so I hope. The goal here is for these blogs to stimulate conversations worthy of a coffee shop. As such, I will strive to only write them with a coffee in hand.

Finally, on a more personal note, I entered Postulancy with the Franciscan Friars of Holy Name Province (think east coast of the US). I am a Catholic convert, graduate of Furman University with a philosophy degree and some economics under my belt as well. I’ve had a number of people ask me both about being Catholic, and entering religious life. It was suggested to me to begin a blog to diminish some of the misunderstandings and confusion over my life choices. So this blog is also an attempt to clear the air- give an inside look into what it’s all like.

So please, jump on in and don’t stay quiet!
